About Exam Photo & Signature: key facts and tips

Key facts

NEET UG 2026 asks for a passport-size photo as a JPG of 10–200 KB and a signature as a JPG of 10–100 KB, according to the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin, Chapter 3, from the National Testing Agency (NTA), verified on 30 October 2026. The photo can be colour or black and white, must be taken on or after 1 January 2026, and needs a white background with the face covering 80%, ears visible and no mask. NTA sets no pixel size, so the Documently NEET preset outputs the photo at 276 × 354 px (3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI) and the signature as a 300 × 100 px strip. A live photo is also captured and matched with the Aadhaar photo. Finger and thumb impressions have no preset, because the bulletin gives two conflicting size ranges. No correction is allowed after upload. Resize both files in the browser, zoom in, then submit.

The NEET UG application asks for a passport-size photo and a signature, and also captures a live photo that's matched with your Aadhaar. This page is set to the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin: photo 10–200 KB, signature 10–100 KB, both JPG. Crop, resize and download each in seconds — your images stay on your phone. We'll update this page when the NEET UG 2027 bulletin is released.

What NEET checks in your photo

NTA is strict about the face. It must cover about 80% of the photo, with no mask, both ears visible and a white background. The photo must be recent — taken on or after 1 January 2026 — and it can be colour or black and white.

During the form, a live photo is also captured and matched with your Aadhaar photo. If the uploaded photo looks very different (old photo, heavy filter, different hairstyle or glasses), you're inviting trouble. Wear spectacles only if you wear them regularly.

Keep physical copies of the same photo

Get prints made from the same photo you upload. The bulletin asks you to keep 4–6 postcard-size (4" × 6") and 6–8 passport-size copies. The postcard-size photo goes to the exam centre — it is not an upload in 2026. Using a different photo on exam day than in your form is an avoidable problem.

Why we output 276 × 354 px

NTA specifies the KB range but not pixel dimensions. We use a standard passport shape, 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI, which is 276 × 354 px. A face photo at this size lands comfortably within 10–200 KB. If the file is ever under the 10 KB minimum, it's padded safely without changing the image.

For the signature we output a 300 × 100 px strip. Since no correction is allowed after upload, zoom in on the result before submitting.

Finger and thumb impressions

NEET UG 2026 also requires finger and thumb impression uploads. The bulletin gives two conflicting size ranges for these — 10–200 KB in one place and 50–300 KB in another — so we haven't added a preset for them. Check the size shown on the form itself before you upload.

Each impression is a separate image, so take them on clean white paper in daylight, the same way you photograph your signature.

Frequently asked questions

What is the photo size for NEET 2026?

A JPG between 10 and 200 KB, with a white background, face covering 80% of the frame, no mask and both ears visible. NTA doesn't set pixel dimensions; we output 276 × 354 px (3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI), which fits the requirement.

What is the signature size for NEET UG 2026?

A clearly legible JPG between 10 and 100 KB. No pixel size is specified, so this tool makes a 300 × 100 px strip. Check it carefully, because NTA doesn't allow corrections after upload.

Can I upload a black and white photo for NEET?

Yes. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin allows a colour or black and white passport-size photo, as long as it's recent, has a white background and your face covers about 80% of it.

Can I use an old photo for NEET 2026?

No. The photo must be taken on or after 1 January 2026. A live photo is also captured during the form and matched with your Aadhaar photo, so an outdated picture can cause a mismatch.

Do I need to upload a postcard size photo for NEET 2026?

Not in 2026. Keep 4–6 postcard-size (4" × 6") prints of the same photo for the exam centre, plus 6–8 passport-size copies. Only the passport-size photo and the signature are uploaded as image files here.
